This 1979 release has been the fourth solo effort of Venezuelan composer
and musician Daniel Grau. The music has been settled at the pulse of
its time for certain. Discofunk with a Latin melody and rhythm approach
surely was the hottest thing among the dancing folks back in the day and
the rather futuristical synthesizer arrangements turn these memorable
tunes into a spacey and spicy affair. The sound is perfect and the
performance equals its package. The compositions are quite long all in
all and therefore have a hypnotical effect on the listener and dancer.
The continuing pulsating groove comes in a repetitive manner creating a
floating atmosphere. This record is surely a product of its era and made
for disco lovers to dance on through the simmering nights, but unlike
most mainstream disco albums this record opens the gate to another
dimension touching the senses of everybody in reach when it gets played
on the turntable. Next to the similar massive Donna Summer works like “I
feel love” this is the true essence of disco music just entirely
instrumental with an emphasize on synthesizer melodies instead of
vocals. Drift away into your disco fantasy, folks!

has become well known for commercial pop hits in the German hit parade
and for some TV shows, but his first and biggest love was jazz music.
With all his film and TV industry contacts, it seems natural that he
finally even worked out some library titles, which have been slumbering
in the archives for decades. Here we have discovered one of them:
"Gateway To Crime," from 1974. This title is definitely exceptional and
might irritate some of his fans, since it does not sound at all like the
typical German radio station big band stuff, but rather evokes New
York's Harlem street atmosphere. By forcedexposure
Music and motors have always had something in common. For many people,
both give them the same emotions considering that a motor that is
working perfectly often is compared to a song, a sound, music. This
common ground is certainly strengthened by the arrival of the turbo
which - together with its sibilance - has brought motors and music yet
nearer together. This album was brought to life with this idea in mind: a
musician, Pocho Gatti, is fascinated by the turbo because of its name,
its noise, and its power to immediately become a myth.
He presented the idea of composing “Turbomusic” to Renault. The answer
was immediate: yes, please! Yes, because the talent of this artist
comes with an enthusiasm that gives you the sense that this will become a
success for sure. Pocho gets his inspiration from the Formula 1.
Especially so in the past from people like Jabouille and Arnoux and
today from Prost. He has also looked into the new cars that have been
widening the Renault Turbo product range since autum 1981: the Renault 4
Alpine Turbo and the 30 Turbodiesel.
The music and the arrangements have been written especially for this
record. For Angel „Pocho“ Gatti music certainly is not a mystery. As
musician, born into an artist family, Bach, Chopin, Dvorak and Ellington
were no strangers to Gatti who started playing the piano before he
started school. His father was a violinist at the Symphonic Orchestra of
Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and Pocho's first notes were Argentinian.
But as Toscanini was in need of 10 musicians for the NBC Symphony
Orchestra, Angel followed his father to New York in 1940, when he was
just ten years old.
His new destination was „Junior High School“, where he became part of
the band, though as clarinetist. During the years, this reed became his
main instrument and he kept on playing it at the Symphonic Orchestra of
the University, which was directed by Leonard Bernstein. In 1949 Angel
Pocho Gatti wins a competition and enters the NBC. He stays there for
two years before he is called into military service for 1,5 years.
Pocho returns to New York, where he dedicates himself to the piano,
writing arrangements and ballets until he gets to know Nelson Riddle in
California who is looking for a pianist for Frank Sinatra. And so -
everytime Sinatra comes to Europe - the young Pocho serves „the Voice“
until 1961. In Paris he is taught harmony by Nadia Boulanger, in Italy
he works for the RAI, and plays concerts all over the old continent. In
1973 he returns to the USA where he is taught orchestra conducting by
Zubim Metha at the Conservatory in Los Angeles.
He returns to Italy in 1975 where he conducts orchestras, writes
arrangements, suites and records classic, jazz and folk concerts. Today
he teaches harmony and composition at „Centro Istruzione Musicale“ in
Verona. Inspired by the „Turbo“ Pocho's Orchestra sweeps in a swinging
tempo, while the following musicians are sticking out: the tenor sax and
flute of Hugo Heredia, the baritone sax of Claudio Rigon, the guitars
of Francesco Villa and the percussion of Francesco Casale. By Sonorama

A fantastic little record – some of the earliest funk work we've ever
heard from the legendary Japanese trumpeter Terumasa Hino – featured
here on two tracks for the soundtrack of Snake Hip! First up is "On The
Corner" – a tune that's got lots of heavy electric piano in the rhythms
– while Hino really soars out with a soulful solo that's some of his
most hard-hitting work of the 60s – especially when he riffs out over
these heavy drums!
A producer called Alfa Mist. Alfa Mist makes brilliant, multilayered hip hop and instrumentals – often featuring some of the best of the UK’s
vocal and MC talent (previous album’s featured Tom Misch and Lester
Duval). His latest album release is ‘Antiphon’; a beautiful album of
creatively executed hip hop beats with a real jazz and soul sensibility.
‘Antiphon’ has been based around a conversation Alfa Mist had with
his brothers – and although undeniably influenced throughout by hip hop,
the melancholy notes that come through on each track make it a more
complex and moving beast than your usual head-nod hip hop LP. My
personal favourite tracks are ‘Breathe’ featuring the eerie vocals from
Kaya Thomas-Dyke and ‘Errors’ a track that epitomises Alfa’s mastery of
chilled out jazz and is soul soothing and sonically vibrant in equal

spacey as its cover image – served up here in a great blend of electric
instrumentation mixed with a fair bit of percussion – all then given
some very strange effects in the studio! The sound library set was
issued in early 70s Argentina, and it's got this great mix of the tribal
and the cosmic – not unlike the wonderful Mandingo albums from the UK
70s scene – which also had a similar blend of fuzz and funk!

A fantastic funky theme to the groovy film Kriminal – served up here with romping orchestrations that have the best sort of hip 60s Italian feel – mod and jerking in the groove, and with some very cool Hammond organ sounds in the middle.

1971 ο δίσκος Φωτογραφίες ήταν η πρώτη δισκογραφική δουλειά του Γιώργου
Κριμιζάκη.Την ίδια χρόνια το Ε! Ψιτ το τραγουδά η ηθοποιός Δώρα Σιτζάνη
στην ταινία ''Αγάπησα ένα αλήτη'' σε σκηνοθεσία Απόστολου Τεγόπουλου με
διαφοροποιημένους τους στίχους.Φυσικά δεν συγκρίνεται η φωνή της Σιτζάνη
με την φωνή της Χωματά που σου σκίζει την καρδιά.
Chilly was a popular German Euro disco/rock band at the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s. Their most famous songs include hits like "Friday On My Mind",'Johnny Loves Jenny', 'Come to L.A.', 'Simply a Love Song', 'For Your Love' and 'Get Up And Move'.
The Song "For Your Love" was originally written by Graham Gouldman (later of 10cc fame) and performed by the Yardbirds
in 1965. Chilly's version was produced by the composer and author Bernt
Moehrle, who created with this song a new standard in Disco music in
the late 70s and early 80s. His version was used and remixed among
others by DJ Hell
on the album Munich Machine. It was also re-released in 2006 by the
French label D-Classics in an edited version called "4 Love" made by
Dylan Petit and in 2011 by Chocolate Puma feat. Colonel Red.
After Galaxy-Lin Robbie van Leeuwen en Rick van der Linden started
another project named Mistral. They used a variety of uncredited
featuring vocalists for their recordings. Their first hit "Jamie", in
1977, featured Sylvia van Asten of Funny Face. Next year it was
succeeded by "Starship 109", featuring Marjan Schatteleyn and their last
hit "Neon City" featured Mariska Veres (the voice of Robbie's earlier
band Shocking Blue). In 1980 three more singles followed. "You're my
hero" features Sheen Milholland (who already had recorded "(You're) my
hero" as Sheen in early 1976). Their last single "I feel it" by the end
of 1980, featured Cheyenne-vocalist Julia Loko. Those last three singles
no longer were hits. This only mentions the vocalists that got known.
Puccio Roelens may have his name on the cover, but the album's very much
a hip small combo date – one that features fantastic instrumentation
from some great jazzy musicians – but all of whom are playing on the
funkier side of their spectrum! The sound here is unique – almost an
early 70s extrapolation of the kind of mod grooves you'd find on a 60s
Italian soundtrack – kind of a jerk-into-funk vibe – touched with a few
mellower moments here an there, which feature some great tenor and
trumpet.

Γεννήθηκε τον Ιανουάριο του 1940 στην Καλαμάτα. Από μικρός ασχολήθηκε με τη μουσική και έπαιζε κιθάρα. Στην εφηβεία του ήρθε στην Αθήνα και ξεκίνησε να εμφανίζεται σε ταβέρνες και νυχτερινά κέντρα. Τραγούδησε στο πλευρό της τελευταίας γυναίκας του Μανώλη Χιώτη και ηχογράφησε τα τραγούδια «Οκτώ χτυπάει το ρολόι» και «Το παράκανες Σωκράτη» με την Ρούλα Γκίκα. Η μοναδική του συμμετοχή στον κινηματογράφο ήταν το 1956 στη ταινία «Οι τρικαδόροι της Αθήνας» με πρωταγωνιστή τον Κώστα Χατζηχρήστο.
Το 1957 άρχισε να κάνει περιοδείες στο εξωτερικό και αποφάσισε να εγκατασταθεί στο Ισραήλ. Χωρίς να έχει πάνω του χρήματα γνώρισε Έλληνες που έμεναν μόνιμα στη χώρα και ζήτησε της βοήθειά τους.
Ο νεαρός Αριστείδης έπιασε δουλειά στο νυχτερινό κέντρο «Αριάννα», που ανήκε σε έναν Εβραίο από τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Άλλαξε το όνομά του σε Aris San και άρχισε να διασκευάζει τραγούδια σε ελληνικούς και εβραϊκούς στίχους. Ήταν από τους πρώτους που χρησιμοποίησε ηλεκτρική κιθάρα στην ελληνική μουσική και έπαιζε όπως οι σολίστ του μπουζουκιού. Ο μοναδικός ήχος της κιθάρας, η καθαρή φωνή και το εντυπωσιακό παρουσιαστικό του αρκούσαν για να γίνει ο αγαπημένος τραγουδιστής των Ισραηλινών. Ήταν ο πρώτος που κατάφερε να πουλήσει πάνω από 100.000 αντίτυπα και ο ελληνικός ήχος του έφερε επανάσταση στη μουσική του Ισραήλ. Όπως είχε αναφέρει ο ισραηλίτης παραγωγός το 1995 στο περιοδικό Ντέφι: «Γύρω στο ’60 ένα νέο παιδί, 17 χρονών, ήρθε απ’την Ελλάδα στο Ισραήλ ψάχνοντας για δουλειά. Ονομαζόταν Άρης Σαν και βρήκε δουλειά σ’ ένα ελληνικό κέντρο στη Χάιφα στο οποίο σύχναζαν μόνο Έλληνες Εβραίοι για ν’ακούσουν μουσική. Αυτός ο Άρης Σαν, στη διάρκεια της δεκαετίας του ’60 έκανε μια επανάσταση… Ήρθε στο Ισραήλ, τραγούδησε όλες τις ελληνικές επιτυχίες του ’60 και πολλοί Ισραηλίτες άρχισαν ν’ακούν τη μουσική του. Ξαφνικά τους άρεσε ο ήχος του μπουζουκιού.
Ο Aris San έπαιζε στην κιθάρα τα σόλα του μπουζουκιού και δημιούργησε έναν καινούργιο ήχο. Η κιθάρα γοήτευε τους νέους. Ήταν η εποχή του Έλβις Πρίσλεϋ, του ροκ εν’ ρολ, των Σάντοους και του Κλιφ Ρίτσαρντ. Ο Άρης δημιούργησε ένα καινούργιο στυλ κι έναν νέο ήχο. Ήταν πρωτοπόρος».
Την περίοδο που μεσουρανούσε στο Ισραήλ, εκτός από πολλούς θαυμαστές, απέκτησε και εχθρούς. Η κυβέρνηση τον κατηγόρησε ότι ήταν κατάσκοπος, ενώ υπήρχε ακόμα και η φήμη ότι είχε κρυμμένη κάμερα στην κιθάρα. Οι κατηγορίες δεν αποδείχτηκαν ποτέ, αλλά πλέον το κλίμα δεν τον σήκωνε. Τέλη της δεκαετίας του ’60 παράτησε την πετυχημένη καριέρα στο Ισραήλ και μετακόμισε στην Αμερική. Η ζωή στην Αμερική Το 1971 άνοιξε το κλαμπ «Sirocco» στο Μανχάταν, ξύρισε το μουστάκι και έκανε νέο ξεκίνημα. Οι Ισραηλινοί και οι Έλληνες της Νέας Υόρκης τον στήριξαν και το μαγαζί ήταν κατάμεστο. Γρήγορα μετατράπηκε σε στέκι διάσημων ηθοποιών του Χόλιγουντ, όπως ο Τέλης Σαβάλας, ο Άντονι Κουίν και η Μελίνα Μερκούρη. Ωστόσο, εκείνη την περίοδο η μαφία και το εμπόριο ναρκωτικών ήταν σε έξαρση. Ανάμεσα στους διάσημους θαμώνες του μαγαζιού ήταν ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους μαφιόζους της Νέας Υόρκης, ο Joseph Gallo ή διαφορετικά ο «Τρελός Τζόι». Ο Άρις Σαν άρχισε να κάνει χρήση κοκαΐνης και συνελήφθη μαζί με άντρες του Gallo πιθανόν για κατοχή ναρκωτικών.
Λέγεται πως ο Σαν αρνήθηκε να δώσει πληροφορίες στο FBI για τον Gallo και καταδικάστηκε σε δύο χρόνια φυλάκιση. Βγαίνοντας από τη φυλακή δυσκολεύτηκε να σταθεί ξανά στα πόδια του γιατί χρωστούσε πολλά χρήματα στη μαφία. Στην Ελλάδα έκανε ξανά δύο εμφανίσεις τη δεκαετία του ’70 στο Παναθηναϊκό στάδιο.Τα τελευταία χρόνια της ζωής του μετακόμισε στη Βουδαπέστη και χάρη στις επαφές του από το Ισραήλ έπιασε δουλειά στο νυχτερινό κέντρο «Καζαμπλάνκα», το οποίο ανήκε σε έναν Ισραηλινό επιχειρηματία. Λίγες μέρες πριν από τον θάνατό του άγνωστοι άντρες του έσπασαν τα χέρια. Το 1992 βρέθηκε νεκρός στο νοσοκομείο. Υπήρξαν φήμες ότι τον έπνιξαν, ενώ σύμφωνα με μια άλλη εκδοχή έπαθε καρδιακή προσβολή. Η αιτία θανάτου δεν είναι ξεκάθαρη.
Το μόνο σίγουρο είναι ότι ο Aris San ήταν εξαίρετος κιθαρίστας και μέχρι σήμερα θεωρείται από τους σημαντικότερους καλλιτέχνες που εμφανίστηκαν στις νυχτερινές πίστες του Ισραήλ.By mixanitouxronou.gr

Ήδη με τη πρώτη τους ηχογράφηση που χαράχθηκε στο βινύλιο το
μελαγχολικό σλόου "Τα Δάκρυα", το σχήμα ξάφνιασε ευχάριστα το κοινό που
αγκάλιασε αμέσως τη σύνθεση και την ανέδειξε σύντομα σ' ένα
αδιαφιλονίκητο σουξέ. Την ίδια επιτυχία γνώρισε και το επόμενο 45άρι
τους το ρυθμικό "Ραντεβού", που σιγοψιθυρίσθηκε από τη νεολαία για μία
αρκετά μεγάλη περίοδο, ενώ η μπάντα για τέσσερα περίπου χρόνια συνολικά
συνέχισε να ηχογραφεί και να εμφανίζεται στα πιο γνωστά κλάμπ της
Θεσσαλονίκης. Με την έναρξη των 70 ς και την σταδιακή υποχώρηση της ποπ
δρομολογήθηκε και το τέλος του γκρουπ, που θεωρείται μετά τους Ολύμπιανς
σαν το πιο εμπορικό συγκρότημα σε πωλήσεις δίσκων της συμπρωτεύουσας
στη διάρκεια των σίξτυς.
Δύο έτη αργότερα οι Αντωνιάδης και Τσώνης θα στήσουν τους φιλόδοξους
Mad, ο Πέτροβιτς συνέχισε σαν μουσικός παίζοντας πλέον σε επαγγελματική
βάση σε διάφορους χώρους, ο Μπουδουράκης θα εγκαταλείψει τη πόλη του
αναζητώντας τη τύχη του στην Αμερική, ενώ ο μπασίστας Μαλαμίδης τα
παράτησε για ν' ασχοληθεί με το εμπόριο ανοίγοντας μία βιοτεχνία ρούχων.
Το "92 όμως και ύστερα από την έντονη αναβίωση της νοσταλγίας, η

επανασυνδεσή της με την αρχική μορφή έκτος των Τσώνη και Μπουδουράκη, η
οποία αφού πραγματοποίησε ορισμένες εμφανίσεις στη πόλη της διέλυσε
και πάλι οριστικά.
Θεωρούνται ως το πιο εμπορικό σχήμα της συμπρωτεύουσας μετά τους
Ολύμπιανς ενώ υπήρξαν και το πρώτο ποπ σύνολο που κυκλοφόρησε ένα δίσκο
με χριστουγεννιάτικα τραγούδια ....

Απεβίωσε χθες στο Κεντάκυ της Αμερικής όπου ζούσε ο Νίκος Αντωνιάδης, ο τραγουδιστής, κιθαρίστας και συνθέτης των Strangers. Καλό Ταξίδι
A great early moment for the legendary Charles Mingus – music that was
used in the equally-legendary film Shadows – the first directorial
effort from a young John Cassavetes! The album's worth it alone for the
unusual piece "Untitled Percussion Composition" – one of the loosest,
sparest Mingus moments ever – and a work that features Charles on both
piano and percussion, alongside more percussion from Dannie Richmond,
Horace Parlan, Jimmy Knepper, and Clarence Shaw – with a sublime flute
solo from Shafi Hadi over the top! The rest of the tracks are more
familiar moments from the key Mingus year of 1959 – played by groups
with John Handy on alto, Booker Ervin and Shafi Hadi on tenor, and
either Richard Wyands or Horace Parlan on piano.
A split set of sound library instrumentals – recorded by two more famous
artists, each working here under a pseudonym! Narassa is Sandro
Brugnolini – an artist you might know for darker, moodier music on other
records – but who turns in some very cool tracks on side one – numbers
that definitely live up to the "popfolkmusic" title – in the way that
they offer up unusual instrumental twists that echo popular modes of the
tune, but in an offbeat way. The side features weird recastings of
modes inspired by Bacharach, Donovan, and others – with titles that
include "Pop Medioevale", "Gli Anni Del Candore", "Cineclown", and
"Fermiamo Il Tramonto". Side two features work by Zanagoria – aka
Giorgio Carnini – tunes that make sweet use of keyboards, including
piano, electric piano, moog, and organ – used in a range of styles that
includes a few especially nice funky tracks!
