Dodson and Fogg is a music project led by writer and musician Chris Wade (previously known for his work with comedian Rik Mayall and Hound Dawg Magazine). It also features work from the likes of Toyah Willcox, Nik Turner of Hawkwind, Celia Humphris of folk band Trees and Judy Dyble. It has been described as psychedelic folk rock and also acid folk. The name seems to come from the novel The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens, where "Dodson and Fogg" is a firm of unscrupulous lawyers.

Jay Richford & Gary Stevan - Feelings 1974 (Carosello)

A legendary sound library set from the 70s Italian scene – exactly the kind of record that got so many folks digging for sound library funk so many years ago! The record's a masterpiece of funky rhythms, jazzy instrumentation, and warmer touches – served up with plenty of Fender Rhodes in the mix, plus sweet flute lines, wah wah guitar, and just the right use of strings to give the whole thing almost a blacksploitation vibe at times! The set was billed to the team of Jay Richford and Gary Stevan – but it's actually the product of better-known sound library maestros Sandro Brugnolini and Stefano Torossi, who work here at a level that's at the top of their powers. There's almost a cop/crime vibe to the record at times – and although some instruments solo at points, the real groove lies in the tight vamping of the orchestra – which hits all the right notes to really send the whole thing soaring – often with a nice use of tone and color too!

This is a rare gem of a record from fantastic soul band "THE SOUL KIDS" stemming from the Democratic Republic of Congo, including covers of JAMES BROWN & The Mighty Flames' hit singles "Lickin Stick" (1968),"Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" (1965), WILSON PICKETT " Hey Jude" and a French vocal version of OTIS REDDING s' soul hit "Respect ".
This amazing young band, which released only four 7 inch singles and one album, is a great example of the influence of soul music and French pop bridging to the new Afro soul scene that the musicians of Kinshasa were involved in during the time of post-independence.
Ngoma was one of the first record labels intent on providing local artists' recordings from both sides of the Congo river to the people of the DRC and West Africa. Created in 1948 by a Greek man by the name of Nicolas Jeronimidis, the Ngoma label was active through 1968, pressed in France until 1971, with a tremendous catalogue, including this historical and essential soul masterpiece! Manfred Burzlaff - Berlin Jazz Soundtracks 2018 (Sonorama)

Ο Manfred Burzlaff γνωρίζει τον παραγωγό ταινιών Hansjürgen Pohland.

-Χρειάζομαι ένα soundtrack", λέει και ο Manfred Burzlaff απαντά:

- Δεν έχω γράψει ποτέ.

- Τότε θα γράψετε ένα τώρα.

Ο Manfred Burzlaff συνθέτει το πρώτο του soundtrack για τη μικρού μήκους ταινία "Schatten" (χθεσινό ποστ), στην οποία της απονέμεται το "Berliner Kunstpreis" ("Βραβείο Τέχνης του Βερολίνου").

Φαίνεται ότι το να επενδύει μουσική σε film αρέσει στον Manfred Burzlaff. Έτσι γράφει μουσική για περισσότερες από 40 ταινίες, μεταξύ των οποίων οι περισσότερες έχουν να κάνουν με τουριστικά τηλεοπτικά σποτ για το Βερολίνο,ταινίες για την σεξουαλική εκπαίδευση και διαφημίσεις. όπως το "Max Knaak" (χθεσινό ποστ).

Ο Manfred Burzlaff πεθαίνει τον Οκτώβριο του 2015, αφού πρώτα έχει διδάξει στη σχολή τέχνης HdK (Hochschule der Künste) και στη μουσική σχολή Berlin-Neukölln,έχει γράψει άρθρα για εξειδικευμένα περιοδικά και έχει εργαστεί ως λέκτορας στη Στοκχόλμη.

Hansjürgen Pohland - Schatten & Max Knaak

Κάθομαι και παρακολουθώ το σύντομο αριστούργημά Schatten (9 λεπτά και 22 δευτερόλεπτα),του Hansjürgen Pohland. Μια πειραματική μικρού μήκους ταινία στην οποία η μουσική τζαζ δίνει το ρυθμό μιας σειράς εικόνων που σχηματίζουν σκιές και σιλουέτες στους τοίχους και τους λόφους της δυτικής πλευράς του Βερολίνου εν έτη 1960.
Ο Hansjürgen Pohland είχε κάνει και το "Tobby". Μια ταινία για τον Toby Fichelscher ο οποίος στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του '60, ήταν απ τους γνωστότερους μουσικούς στο Βερολίνο. Έτσι έγινε ο Tobby, ένα πορτρέτο του Fichelscher και της τζαζ του Βερολίνου. Μια ταινία (δεν την εχω δει) στο στυλ του New Wave της εποχής η οποία πήγε και στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου των Καννών το 1959.Ο Joachim Ernst Berendt το χαρακτήρισε ως "μια ταινία που παράγει την πραγματική ατμόσφαιρα της τζαζ του Βερολίνου" λίγο πριν χωριστεί στα δυο.
Τέλος,μια συναρπαστική διαφήμιση μόδας του Hansjürgen Pohland το "Max Knaak"!

Known as Pantaleon Perez Prado, was the younger brother of the famous King of Mambo. Pantaleon, who came to Europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with Unifunk. A powerful Big Funk Band sound featuring: Tullio De Piscopo, Mario Rusca, Giancarlo Barigozzi, Pino Prestipino and others. Escandalo!, as Perez Prado states in the brief sleeve note, is named after a new rhythm created by himself. A rhythm you can dance to in freedom, without specific steps. In spite of this naive launching, the opening track Chicago Banana is a declaration of intent, with its Sly Stone-esque groove. 9 out of 12 tracks are originals credited to composers of the Unifunk circle, but the track list is careful to preserve Prados well-established Latin appeal, by including three standards such as Brazil, El Manisero and Tequila.
